NUMINOSUM

Numinosum — that which cannot be named but is felt. A trembling at the edge of the known. The sense that something is present before you understand what it is.
Each work is made in a single sitting, unplanned, with soft pastel: a medium that refuses to be corrected. There is no preliminary sketch. No concept waiting to be illustrated.
What appears on paper is found rather than composed.
Numinosum is a diary without words — or rather, with a different kind of word. Not daily in the strict sense, but faithful to the same impulse: to show up, to be present and to let something pass through.
Jung used the term numinosum to describe an experience that seizes the individual rather than being sought by them. That is what this practice is about. Not creation as construction, but creation as encounter.
The series remains open. It will end when it ends.
